The District
Task Force Committee Meeting had been convened on 18-04-2019 at 10AM in connection with the Climate Change impacting Vector, Water and Air borne and other
seasonal diseases under the Chairmanship of the District
Collector, Krishna District at conference

The DM&HO Krishna has welcomed all the participants for the District Task Force Committee meeting and informed that the impact of Climate Change on Human Health is of serious concern, therefore, it requires urgent intervention strategies to prevent the population from their harmful effects.
The District Collector, Krishna also highlighted that Malaria
incidence in the District has reduced considerably during the last year and the District
is under Pre Malaria Elimination Phase. He has informed that the spray activities started this year also in time but the vector borne as well as Water and Air borne diseases incidence depends on the climate changes from year to year.
The District Malaria Officer has presented the status of all seasonal diseases i.e., Vector borne, water borne, Air Borne and Sunstroke cases in the District during current year and past 3 years.
The DM&HO
Krishna informed that
•
Control and prevention of seasonal diseases require coordinated efforts from all the line departments.
•
IEC plays a key role. The Medical & Health
Dept
provides the prototype material to the concerned departments to create awareness among community. All departments should put up efforts in prevention and control of seasonal diseases through Green Ambassadors, Agricultural MPEOs, Panchayat Secretaries, Anganwadi workers, Helpers, ASHAs, ANMs, SHGs, Sadhikara Mitras,
MEMPA volunteers, and
CHWs in Tribal areas.

Special attention should also be given on source reduction methods such as regular removal of garbage, de-silting of drains, and maintaining domestic hygiene, etc.,

MA&UD
& PR&RD depts to share the de-silting schedule,
list of vi1lages/ wards where the supply of water is not on daily basis with the Medical & Health,
•
WD&CW depts and ITDAs and
to stress more in creating awareness on prevention of
breeding places in those areas.
The Project
Director, Krishna, WD&CW has informed that the trainings are conducted on ORS preparation, Wash techniques etc. The IEC on mosquito control activities are also being
carried out.
The DEO has informed that all
educational institutions are
already being part of
campaigns by the Health
department.
The DM&HO
Krishna opined that the IEC on Seasonal diseases to
be given to the students as the best way of communication is student parent Communication.
The Spray
operations should be conducted before reopening of the residential schools, colleges and Welfare hostels. Screening I meshing of windows is also suggested.
Maintenance
of water supply, hygiene in Toilets and provision of Incinerators for proper disposal of sanitary napkins
is suggested.
The DM&HO
Krishna has informed that every Major Gram Panchayat should be equipped with at least one fogging machine. The Medical &
Health dept will facilitate the procurement of quality insecticides as well as spray equipment.
Sharing of Gram Panchayat wise action plan by DPO which contains information
on availability of fogging machines, name of Panchayat Secretary and Green Ambassadors to respective DM&H Os. Special
focus should be given in Peri-urban areas of Municipal Corporations on source
reduction activities.
District
Collector, Krishna suggested the Water Resource dept with regard to de-weeding of canals specifically in municipal areas, to check leakage of water pipelines on regular basis. Joint inspection on water quality assessment
by the Water Supply and Health departments are to be organized.
District
Collector, Krishna suggested the Animal Husbandry dept to focus on the RFID tagging of the vaccinated animals in view of their movement across the District borders. Also asked to enhance the awareness campaigns on providing immediate
information on dead animals by the community to arrange
compensation as well as proper disposal.
The DM&HO Krishna has highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts in prevention and control of seasonal diseases by all the departments to achieve good impact on public health while concluding the meeting.

Ø Training of Public Health Engineers on vector control activities. Ø Sensitization of local leaders and elected peoples representatives. Ø Creative awareness regarding vector borne diseases, water borne diseases and seasonal ailments through MEPMA. Ø To ensure chlorination of drinking water and conduction of water quality checks in Municipal Corporations and Municipalities. Ø Area wise action plans to be prepared for the hotspot areas where high incidence of water borne diseases was observed or any outbreaks were reported previously. Ø During functioning of MMDCs in transmission season, the cooperation and coordination of Municipal / urban wing should be extended to Health dept. |
